Gate Access https://www.benning.army.mil/GateInfo/
*When you are coming for Family Day/Weekend or Graduation please follow the guidance given by your Soldier’s command. You should receive a letter giving you times, locations and procedures they need you to follow for the event. *
Your command may mention Pre-Registering. Here's the link: https://visit.gvt.us/steps/terms_of_use
Be sure to download the GuideOn App or Waze App to use for directions once on base.
ID Requirements. All persons age 18 and over must present a valid picture identification card for access to the installation. NO STATES are currently subject to Real ID enforcement at this time or for the foreseeable future. DoD will accept standard State-issued driver's licenses and identification cards from all U.S. States and territories as proof of identity. DoD will not turn anyone away for having a “non-REAL ID-compliant” driver's license.
If you have a valid Military ID, or anyone in the same vehicle has a valid Military ID (CAC, Uniformed Services ID card, Civilian Retiree card, Dependent ID card)
Access is granted without a background check. Show that ID at the gate. No need to stop at the VCC.
If you (or anyone in the same vehicle) do NOT have a Military ID:
Report to the VCC (Visitor Control Center) to be issued a Temporary Pass

VCC is open 24 hours / 7 days a week
VCC address:
Bldg. 10604 6065 Lindsay Creek Parkway Fort Benning, GA 31905
VCC is located off I-185 on the Left-hand side as you head towards the Main Gate.
The VCC is now utilizing self-service kiosks for obtaining POV (Personally Owned Vehicle) Gate Passes. Currently there are 2 kiosks available, and only at the MAIN GATE VCC.
A valid photo ID is required (state DL license, AIE badge, Gold Star card, Federal or State issued photo ID, Passport)
**All passengers 18+ are required to go into the VCC to utilize one of the Kiosks to obtain a temporary POV pass.
Every passenger 18+ will scan their photo ID into the Kiosk, enter the requested information indicating your reason for visiting (IE: Graduation for [Soldier’s name] in [Your Company]).
An NCIC-III background check will be run.
Access will be granted for those with a valid reason to be on base after a favorable background check is completed based on the scan of your ID. A temporary paper pass will be issued showing the dates the pass is valid for. Show this pass along with your photo ID at the gate for entrance to the base.
If there are any issues with your ID or background check, the kiosk will “Ping” and you will need to wait for an officer to bring you to the counter to complete your processing.
There may be other reasons that the kiosk may “ping” as well, that do NOT indicate any issue with your ID. If this should happen, please wait for an officer to assist you.
If you need any assistance, there will be officers available to assist and guide you.
If the kiosks get too backed up, they may choose to direct you to the counter for processing of your background check and pass. If this happens, then only the Driver will need to obtain the pass, all other passengers can return to the vehicle to wait.
If utilizing the self-service kiosks, you can obtain your pass any time the day prior to your event (up to 24 hours in advance). However, if the kiosks are busy and you must use the counter for the “old” process, they will not issue the pass until midnight the day of your event.
*Because this is a newer process and there are only 2 kiosks, we suggest you go early if possible. If there is a line, you may want to return later.
The full process takes just a few minutes, depending on how busy they are.
*** You may be directed by your Company to enter the installation through specific gates. Security measures are conducted prior to entrance onto the installation at that location. Visitor names will be vetted against the graduating class roster then be given a temporary gate pass.
Most gates are closed by 1700 and on weekends.
